“We brought him in because we thought he was the best person for the job and would definitely move us on from where we were and where we had been under Jose (Mourinho).”
Everyone seems to have forgotten that in between Chelsea's realms were in the hand of Avram Grant - I'd prefer to call 'Sir Avram Grant'.
This man is hated by most Chelsea fans. While Jose got the crowd singing his name, the only songs AG heard were "You dont know what you are doing" People forget his achievements: finishing second in league (only cos of silly draws against bolton, wigan and spurs - or the title wud have been chelsea's by clear 6 points), runners up in Champions league (JT missed the penalty , AG can do nothing about it).
He has been often accused of being emotionless in the dug out and in the media. But wont the players prefer a coach who is calm when being a goal down rather than one (read Scholari) jumping around as a cat on a hot tin roof? Speaking about emotions he did get excited when the moments were worth it:
Beating ManU on home ground
Beating liverpool to enter the Final of CL
We don’t need coaches to celebrate every goal as if it was scored in a final. Everybody has a style and fans needed to appreciate that.
Try ignoring as much as you like, but his achievements still stand. God forbid and if Chelsea don’t win the CL under Scholai and if Roman gets bored or bust and sells the club, he will still stand as the clubs most successful manager in the CL. And perhaps 50 years down the line fans will remember him as 'Sir Avram Grant'.

yeah, manu were lucky last time in EPL and CL, going to the very last minutes..just a bit of bad luck for AG, had he won one of those..
ReplyDeletei still hv doubts how terry missed tht pk
now AG's history due to one missed pk. its time for scolari and city's dynasty, waiting for January transfer window, would b chaos! but good tht top four got some competition.
